If you follow our group Janet will need little introduction. A familiar and friendly face, Janet has been an integral part and very much involved in all aspects including acting, directing and various committee roles and is currently the Vice Chair.
How long have you been with The Curtain Callers (formerly Churchdown Players)?
I have been a member since 1995….unbelievable….both Ian and I got involved when our daughters were cast in a pantomime and we have never left.
Have you been in any other drama groups?
This is the only drama group I have been involved with.
Can you remember the first production you were in and who you played?
The first play I was involved in was “Man Alive” a comedy where I played a secretary but haven’t a clue what her name was, it was a long time ago.
What has been your favourite character that you have played?
There have been many characters over the years but I think one of my favourites was Yvette from “Allo Allo”. I would love to do this play again but I think I am more of an “Edith” character now…..🙂
Is there a specific production you would love to be in?
I really enjoy some of the old classic “who dunnits” and I have directed a few, Agatha Christie, Sherlock Holmes. But I think if I’m on the stage a comedy or farce is always fun.
Who do you play in ‘Out of Focus’ and can you tell us a little about your character?
In “Out of Focus” I play Evonne, a vicar’s wife - very nervy, totally disorganised and very little self-esteem. She’s a fun character to play and very little acting is required for the nervy part….I haven’t had to learn lines for three years and I must admit it I’m finding it a little daunting, but I’m sure it will be fine on the night!
