It was great to get together the cast, backstage crew and other members last night to celebrate a successful production.
The variety productions require an extraordinary amount of work from the director, gathering ideas and working out how they will fit together over the period of a couple of years. Then there's working with other members to create a set with props; sound and lighting; organising music and coming up with chorus movement and dance routines; liaising with the venue when there was a possibility we would have no room backstage for changing, storing props and entering the set; making changes as rehearsals progressed and working around cast dropping out and absences due to COVID. The list goes on! Of course there has also been all the effort from the cast, backstage and front of house too.
There were times we thought we may not be ready but as usual it was ‘Alright on the Night!’
Wasn’t it a great show? We have had some wonderful comments from audiences on the night and lovely messages by telephone and on Facebook. Here are some of them:
‘Fantastic show last night… really enjoyed it! well done to everyone involved… wonderful singing, dancing and lots of laughs too!’
‘Very much enjoyed it, good to have you back!‘
‘Well done all on Friday night!!’
‘Just to say what a fantastic night and performance last night. Well done to everyone. I think it was one of the best shows I have been to in a while and so much work must’ve gone into the detail and variety.’
‘Great show.’
‘I just wanted to say how much my friend and I enjoyed the show last Friday. Congratulations to all. Everyone was brilliant! Please add my email to the mailing list for future performances.’
‘Your show was mind blowing really good. So professional, funny sketches as well as the comedian, great voices, very good cast, very entertaining. 12 out of 10‘
‘ We thoroughly enjoyed it.‘
So...We’re taking a week's break now for a bit of rest and also some planning for the next production. If you would like to come and join the group we are always happy to see new members. Whether you are keen on being on stage, behind the scenes or maybe even fancy directing we would love to meet you!
Our next get together will be in the back room at Churchdown Community Centre, Wednesday 20th July at 7.30pm.
